Tummy Time
Lillian and Andy continue to be best buds! She’s getting so strong that she’ll be crawling so soon!
Lillian and Andy continue to be best buds! She’s getting so strong that she’ll be crawling so soon!
We returned home yesterday from our trip to Florida, and I apologize for not updating much while we were away – I left my cell phone at home! Geesh, that was tragic! I felt naked not having it with me! Anyway, the trip was really great! Lillian completed two plane rides and did really well, she only fussed for about 10 minutes on the return flight, but otherwise she pretty much just slept. It was quite enjoyable seeing the faces of the other passengers when we boarded the plane – TOTAL DREAD! Relax homies, it’s all good!
All of the animal activity didn’t phase Lily one bit – lots of animals to study. She enjoyed petting the cats and dogs and they took very well to her! I would walk her around in the evenings to get her to calm her down and the largest german shepherd that I have even seen, Hunter, would escort us. I wanted to bring him home with us! Our time spent with Kristin and Mark was really nice and laid back – just what we needed before the busy month that lies ahead!
Good thing that Lily likes dogs so much, because we’re heading down to Florida to Aunt Kristin’s farm that houses lots of dogs (think 50ish) and a large handful of other animals all waiting to find a forever home! Yep, she runs Florida’s best animal adoption farm! And meeting Aunt Kristin and Uncle Mark is long overdue!
This also means that we’re flying with Lillian for the first time! Just thinking about it makes my stomach squirm – I am so anxious! I know the dread that I felt when I saw a baby in line for a plane that I was about to board in my pre-baby life. I plan on dressing Lily in a super cute dress so that everyone falls in love with her and will think its cute when she squeals. I’ve read lots about flying with infants and plan to feed her during take off and landing and hope that she sleeps in between!
While we’re gone, I’ll be sure to post pictures of our adventure!
Pictures from our weekend away: Lillian having a blast at Grandma & Grandpa McAtee’s and Brian, Andy (the dog), and I at Apple Valley Lake with friends. Thanks to Shelly for capturing our fun times at the lake!
This past weekend, we headed home to Sylvania to attend Brian’s 10 year high school reunion. Brian and I went to the same high school (I graduated a year after him) so the event was a fun time for me as well. It also didn’t hurt that one of my closest friends also married an older man in the class of ’99, so we were both there proudly representing the class of ’00. It was a fun night and I talked to a lot of people who are regular readers of this blog – HOLLA! – and who are big fans of Lillian! It’s kinda nice having people already know what’s going on in your life so you don’t have to answer the same questions over and over again!
Andy, of course, kept a close eye on Lillian during the drive. I never get tired of seeing him watch over her – it’s so cute! He loves visiting Sylvania because he gets to play with Brian’s parents dog, Jessie…and he gets to eat countless numbers of cherry tomatoes from their garden!
On our way back to Cincinnati, we made a stop in Bowling Green to visit my friend, Ali, who just had baby Grant on Tuesday! It was Lily’s first encounter with an eligible bachelor and she blew it! She had a super smelly poop, (SSP as I’m now calling them), during our visit and now Grant will associate Lily with the first terrible smell of his life! Luckily everyone else I know also seems to be having boys, so hopefully she can redeem herself! Seeing Grant kinda made me sad, because he was so so so tiny – Lillian was once that little! Its crazy how fast they grow in three months!
We set off for another week long trip to Sylvania yesterday. Again, Andy kept a watchful eye over Lily the entire car ride!
I’m happy to report that Lillian and Andy are still best of friends. Duke is slowly coming around so hopefully I’ll have pictures of him and Lily soon enough!
Andy isn’t the only dog that has taken to protecting Lillian. My parents dog, Clyde, has grown quite fond of her as well! Normally he doesn’t like kids, but apparently he’s gone soft in his old age (16!)
Not only does the picture show Clyde with Lily, but check out her strength in holding her head up during tummy time!
To prove it’s not a fluke, in the picture of Lily sitting with my mom, she’s holding her head up all on her own! She’s one strong lady!
It’s crazy to think that a week ago today, little Miss Lillian was born! What has happened in a week?
1. We’ve fallen hopelessly in love with our daughter.
2. We don’t mind getting pooped/peed/puked on.
3. Andy (our dog) has become quite the protector over Lily.
4. We have become diaper changing champions.
5. Lily is a fan of movement – walks, car rides, swings, bouncy seats!
6. We have learned how to operate on negative sleep and still be pleasant to each other.
7. We have received lots of yummy food and snacks from family and friends – THANK YOU!
8. Brian holds the world record in assembling/disassembling Dr. Browns bottles.
9. We have names for Lily’s many faces: pirate face, Brian grimace face, farting face, whistling-without-sound face, thinking face, squished face.
10. Overall, our life-turned-upside-down is not nearly as hectic or unmanageable as we had previously thought.
Duke seems to think that we’ve made this nursery in his honor. He’s made himself quite comfortable. I can’t say that I’m surprised!
