I made the bold move of putting Lillian in the ‘kid holder’ (what else do you call that area?) of the shopping cart at the grocery store the other day. I thought it would be a more enjoyable ride for her, and quite frankly that infant seat is a pain in the butt and getting awfully heavy these days! So I threw the cart cover on, (pretty nice, eh?), and plopped her down. She was very proud of herself and looked like such a big girl! The other people in the store LOVED her, she was a huge hit! She did really well for about 15-20 minutes, then got a bit lazy. She couldn’t really sit up any more and ending up slouching back or tumbling to the side. So I basically finished the shopping trip hunched over the cart supporting her. Still, it was a fun little trip and I’ll probably continue to do it this way!
I have mixed feelings about my little girl growing up. Gone are the days of Lillian only being awake for an hour and then sleeping soundly for hours on end. This girl keeps me on my toes these days! She will take a short half hour nap soon after having her breakfast – just enough time for me to grab my coffee and perhaps a bite to eat. Then, she has started a wonderful trend of long naps in the afternoon! Lately she has been going down for a nap pretty easily around noon and sleeping until 2 or 3 – just in time for her next bottle! It is so nice! I’m going to have to get used to taking advantage of this time to get things done. Right now, my first reaction is to collapse on the couch and perhaps take a nap of my own! As far as the rest of the day goes, Lillian is definitely wanting to drop the short half hour nap that she takes around 5pm. To make up for this, I have started her bedtime routine around 5:30 and she down for the night by 6:30. For now, this sleep schedule seems to be working for us…but with the way things go with Lillian, I wouldn’t be surprised if this has all changed by tomorrow!
Now that Lillian is beginning to master the art of sitting up, she has lots of fun playing with her toys! And by playing, I mean shoving everything into her mouth! Here, she has quite a taste for a llama!
With the great weather that Cincinnati has been experiencing lately, we have been taking advantage of the Hamilton County Parks! It’s such a great deal – $5 for an annual pass and we have access to great paved trails, swings, great views, slides, miniature waterparks, and there are even plenty of ducks for Andy to stalk! We have logged quite a few miles on the trails already and will be exploring some new routes once I pick up the jogging stroller that was so generously donated to us!
Lillian is tearing through her nutritional development! She has downed rice cereal, oatmeal, peas, squash, carrots, green beans, bananas…and probably more since I drafted this post! I decided to give her a sippy cup the other day with a little bit of water in it and she knew exactly what to do! Gnaw on it then throw it on the ground! Before I grabbed my phone (camera), she did drink in like a normal person though!
Lillian is really starting to enjoy her activity center – so many fun things to play with!
Lillian and I have been out and about walking all over the neighborhood! We live in a really great area, within a mile we can walk to the grocery store, Gap, or the voting precinct!!
