Toddler Eating Habits

These days, feeding time with Lillian is an adventure. Back at her one year doctor checkup, I was told that kids don’t get picky until at least two. Not so, in our case. Lillian will turn up her nose if the food is served in a questionable container, looks funny, feels funny, or if she just feels like being a punk. IMG_8576

What does she do when she doesn’t feel like eating a certain food? Throws it. Or picks up her plate/bowl and throws all of the contents. Thankfully, we have a more than willing dog that gobbles up the food before it even hits the floor. Before Lillian, Andy Dog NEVER was fed table scraps. Seriously, never. To him, Lillian is a gift from above!

I think she is also getting more confidence when it comes to eating, because we have been letting her experiment with a spoon! If anything, this has been a good challenge for me to pay more attention to what we have on hand to eat. Gone are the days of cheese, wine, macaroni & cheese, ice cream sandwiches, and cheerios. Yes, they are still staples in this home, but now there are healthier options like fruit, cottage cheese, yogurt and veggies. IMG_8581
