Home Sweet Home with Lillian

Wow. The past 4 days are a complete dream. I keep thinking back to Saturday and how different things are now! I’m in total shock – in a good way!

I’ve gotten so many compliments on Brian’s updates during the labor – how great is he?! He continues to be amazing at taking care of his daughter! Today, while eating a plate of cheese (of course) I overheard him tell her that someday he’ll teach her about cheese. Hehe, so cute! I’m looking forward to overhearing comments like that as we continue this journey.

It has been really weird being home. Gone are the nurses in and out of our room constantly to help us out and reassure us that we’re doing the right thing. It’s really hard trying to figure all of this baby care stuff out on our own, but as Lily sleeps here curled up in my arms, I think she’s a happy girl and that we are doing okay!

The first night was rough as she likes to sleep with you and not in her crib – obviously we have to fight that urge and get her on her own. We bought a thing that vibrates the crib mattress so we are hopeful that it is soothing to her and tonight is easier. As my milk comes in, we’re also hoping that her feeding routine every three hours gets easier as well! Soon enough we’ll be on a good schedule and life won’t be as hectic!

Tomorrow we have an at-home visit from a nurse to check up on Lily and I. She was a little jaundice so hopefully that is fading away! For now, here’s what you all really want, Lily pics! Enjoy!

Lily is darling! Beatrice was jaundice too… but now, she is less tan and more pink. And you will be amazed at what it is like with the 3 hour feeding schedule. Bea now wakes up on her own every three hours. If I am napping at the same time, we wake up together for a feeding. It is amazing.

Life is really different… I mean, everyone says life is different after a baby, which is obvious…but… every thing is different now… forever.

But in a good way!

Welcome to parenthood! She is a beautiful little girl, congrats to you both! Enjoy every minute, time will fly! Hang in there with the feedings, I must say the first few weeks with Taylor were crazy. I didn’t breastfeed my first 2 and decided to try with Taylor. The best advice I can give is in the first few weeks don’t look at the clock! It will just drive you nuts. There were nights where we were feeding for 2 hours straight. I googled it a million times to see if it was normal haha. Congrats again guys!
