Toddler Love

Lillian seems to be doing something new every day. Sometimes the new ‘quirks’ stick around, and other times she will do something once and it is never to be seen again…or at least for a little while.

Last week began a new quirk that I cherish with everything in me. In the middle of a no-nonsense session of sorting her toys into piles, she walks over to me with a cute little grin on her face, and motioned for me to pick her up. I pulled her up onto my lap and she just cuddled into me, and sat there, perfectly content and full of love. She stayed for about 30 seconds and then got down and went back to her OCD activity. Ever since then, she will repeat this action multiple times a day, sometimes combining it with looking up at me and smiling while snuggling in closer.

Dare you to tell me anything better than being a Mom!

Summertime

Oh, hey! There are readers here! A sincere apology to those of you that stop by regularly to see what Miss Lillian is up to. I suppose I am actually living out what summertime should be by just relaxing and enjoying the sunshine. I actually FORGOT about the blog for awhile. *gasp* If it weren’t for my sister in law who has been kicking butt in updating her baby blog, I’m not sure when I would have remembered to update this! Whoops!

So yes, we have been enjoying Cincinnati, and enjoying the sun in our little backyard pool. What would a MacDonald Summer be without a small backyard pool? Today was a particularly fun pool day, Lillian kept leaning back and just laying in the sun. Once set, she would look over at me and smile. Perhaps she is starting to imitate Mom a little too much? Here’s to really enjoying the rest of the summer!

Walking Toddler

Last Thursday was a big day, Lillian took five steps. If I encouraged her to do it shortly after that first time, she would sit right now and happily crawl around. Fast forward to now, and she just gets up and starts walking around the room. I, of course, am freaking out and telling her how wonderful and brilliant she is, and her face is all, “What, Mom? Everybody walks. NBD.”

By the end of the day she has gotten to be such a pro, and is used to all of the fanfare for each completed walk, that she will shriek with glee too. It’s pretty fun. Even after watching her walk over and over, I still stop whatever I am doing to watch this little wonder!

Toddler Walking Work Out

Okay.

Breathe.

Lilian is finally taking steps on her own. Yes, she will take 3-5 steps on her own, but don’t you dare encourage her because she will sit right back down and crawl. And don’t try to trick her by dropping her hand mid-walk – you can’t get anything past this girl!

Now she is just being cocky when she walks while holding on to furniture. She practically runs half of the time. I caught her really practicing her skills the other day. The video isn’t that long, but prior to shooting it, she just kept going back and forth…back and forth. This routine reminded me of the suicides we had to do back in high school basketball conditioning. And don’t mind the kids she is trying to free from my parents stove.

Toddler Haircut

At only 14 months old, it was time for Lillian’s SECOND haircut. Again, it was just a bang trim, but I am pretty proud to have a kid who needs a trim about as often as I do! Each time I have gone, they ask if I want all of her hair cut. Lillian has beautiful curls – referenced here. Why in the world would I ever cut them off?! Yes, it may be wild and uneven, but I love it!
